It's easier to see your own pattern when it's wearing someone else's face. The Veil & Thorn books give men a safe distance from their own defences: language for experiences they couldn't name, and the recognition that the path through the veil and past the thorn is universal, even when walked alone.
In the coaching practice the books become companions: chapters assigned between sessions, characters used as reference points, and one question asked again and again.
